A merciless teardown! Boom.

I haven’t played the game yet, but seriously? Dubstep? Now I’m saving my money for something else…

I just want the real Dante back. :'( Do that and I would be happy.

I think it’s amusing how many people have adapted the “You’re wrong/get off my lawn” attitude with anyone who has a difference of opinion about this game…
My appreciation of the series was off and on again, and honestly, DmC felt fresh. Yes, even the dumb trash talking. Was it DMC3? Absolutely not. Is that a terrible thing? No, because it was executed, generally speaking, very well.
I liked the bullet points a lot; the contrast between combat movement and platforming movement was interesting; it’s not something I really paid any attention to in the past, though at some level maybe losing the force of weight when shifting to air maneuvering is what caused me to miss jumps when I did.
Very sharp attention to detail, and all points were supported very well. Which is why I’m scratching my head at the nay-sayers, who seem more upset about what was said than how it was said, or why it was said, as these things are so often subjective. I enjoyed this video a lot! Thanks, Satchbag 😀

Well there is a ton of reasons people dislike the characters and story and they are all prety much self-evident.
However, I feel the combat/gameplay in DmC was just…boring.
No enemies posed a threat, the difficulty was insanely easy compared to pretty much ANY hack-n-slash worth salt, and the platforming was just jump-pull-jump-pull-jump-pull.
DmC just didn’t bring anything to the table that the other hack-n-slash did.
Sure it’s technically “not a bad game”, but…does that mean it’s worth a buy or even a good game? Nope.

So here is how I fared into seeing if Satchbag is someone I would like to watch or not.
I quickly watched his DmC video, just like many he contradicts himself when talking about difference between DMC and DmC, Love how they all say it still keeps the old DMC feel but really, truth everyone knows, DmC is a different game that Capcom slapped the DMC logo on it, it doesn’t look like DMC, does not play like DMC, does not come close to DMC
how so? how about looking on both DMC4 or DMC3 and compare it to this game(a REAl comparison) on gameplay mechanics fast paced gameplay and story(DMC1-4 don’t talk there story seriously while DmC tries to), then we can talk

I don’t know if anyone should take this video seriously…. here is ten reasons why.
1. Bad comparisons. Comparing the first game in a four part series to the newest remake. DMC1 vs DmC and saying stuff like “it looked very bland” is just silly. What about DMC3? or 4?
2. The ridiculously bad story and immature characters with comeback lines like “F U”, “HEY AHOLE”, and whatnot. Not even mentioned?
3. The combat wasn’t an upgrade from any of the Hack N Slash out there already. Color coded enemies detracted from that, making it very subpar to even GoW, much less games like DMC or Bayonetta.
4. Shooting pregnant women…in the stomach. I know reviewers like this don’t actually play the game all the way through, but this is something that I feel every reviewer just kind of glosses over of DmC.
5.The upgrade system is overwhelming? It has literally nothing but damage upgrades and a few skill unlocks. I just doubt anyone feels it overwhelming, because it’s so very shallow. 10% more damage isn’t exactly a big, complicated system.
6. Music. “Fk you, wtf is wrong with you” (actual lyrics from the club scene). It’s just….bad. Is satchbag getting to the point where any dubstep is fine because he might not like it but feels like commenting on it wouldn’t be fair?
7. Platforming. Ok this is kind of a lie, platforming on DMC is pull platform and jump. The entire game’s platforming is that and only that.
8. NO LOCK ON. Pretty sure satchbag doesn’t play hacknslash at all to not mention this, especially with the color coded enemies.
9. Looks. Now i’ll admit for using UDK, it’s pretty good. But again, low amounts of enemies so…meh.
10. AI. The enemy AI does not attack you if they are not on your screen. Something I’d think any reviewer would notice, guess not.
Look, I clearly overkilled it here, but I guess people who half-ass reviews and praise a game in such a general sense….meh. I’d expect more from normal boots, especially given this is so similar to an IGN/Gamespot review.

But that is what a review is all about. The comment you made is a review itself. Should I say it is half ass because I don’t agree with you? No. I respect your opinion on the game and that you didn’t like it. The review isn’t half ass, he pointed out the things he liked and didn’t like about the game just as you did. The game is not broken, it just didn’t live up to your expectations. No trying to fight with you, just pointing something out.

I forget when reviews are really just commercials.
This “review” is about as informative as gamespot or ign, because all it does it tell me practically nothing about what the game is and ends up overpraising what is pretty much the baseline of hack-n-slash.
I say it’s half-ass because it lacks any real emotion or information about the game.
Now he goes on to say “how does it stack up” but then compares it to devil may cry 1 for almost the entire video…..which was just stupid.
I’m sorry, that’s like comparing Mario Galaxy 2 to super mario for the 3ds, you don’t do it.

Liked the game, not the characters in it. I just cant take them seriously, all of them are a joke of themselves.
I was specially mad about what they did to Vergil, he was one of my favourites villains in videogame history, but here is just a generic bad guy.
Everything else in the game is great, specially the art style of the scenarios, they are just amazing.
PS: Sorry if my grammar isn’t correct, english is not my mother language

if you ignore the old devil may cry games and focus on just this game it really stands out as a solid game. it was easy to learn, beautiful to look at, and just generally entertaining all around.

I liked the previous Devil May Cry’s especially number 3. And then I played this one and I FUCKING loved it. And I loved its aesthetic way more than the gothic vibe of the others but that might just be because I love the whole ‘electronic’ thing and the bright but contrasting colours, and the soundtrack is probably my most loved soundtrack ever. I had every song on my phone at one point and only listened to just those songs. It also introduced me to Combichrist which just blow my mind still.
I recently got the original trilogy on ps2 and tried to play them and i just couldn’t. It was weird to me and I no longer liked it. This new DmC is just WAY too good in my opinion. I really hope Ninja Theory get another shot because when this came out it really was one of the best games that year but it’s core community just didn’t buy it because they didn’t like change and it made it seem like a flop. It’s sad because it’s solid as fuck!

I’m butthurt and I miss the old Dante. But, wasn’t he basically gone by the 4th installment? Despite being butthurt, no one can deny this DmC is a solid game. Amazing review btw, you’re so professional!

This game made me a Devil May Cry fan. I’m not an anime nut, so the series up to this point was contrived for me; while DmC is definitely derivative in regard to character, I found the plot refreshing and interesting, and Dante’s one-liners to be endearing in their “face-palminess.” And even though the upgrades made my head spin, figuring out how to hack up all those smarmy demons and ride that SSS was one of the more satisfying things I’d experienced in modern console gaming.
And yet, even though this game is about an 8/10 to me, I can’t help but guess that I never would have given it a chance if it hadn’t been a reboot to a popular franchise.

Good review. I quite enjoyed the new DmC and I have always enjoyed all the games in the series. while I didn’t love some of the choices it made (mainly the characters and plot). I did play the crap out of it. DMC3 and 4 will always be my Favorites though.

Good review. I think that the new DMC lives up to the old ones if not surpasses them.
